Prescription Drop Off Box Program

May 11, 2017

Charlottetown City Police Services are once again assisting city residents to safely dispose of expired and unused prescription drugs. Data clearly depicts that unused and expired prescription drugs are being used by young people, and a few simple steps can be taken to avoid this risk. We want to see residents returning expired and unused prescription drugs to their local pharmacy or police on a regular basis. Keeping these drugs out of the hands of our youth, who are most vulnerable, is of primary importance to police. The Charlottetown Police Services Prescription Drug Drop-off Day program can be used to assist residents to turn in old or out of date prescriptions, thereby spreading the word regarding adopting safe practices for the storage and disposal of drugs.

This is the 5th year for this program in Charlottetown, and it will conducted on the 20th of May 2017. Police will be visiting several seniors homes in the Charlottetown area to collect old or unused prescriptions. Residents can also dispose of unused drugs at the CPS drop off box located in the lobby of the police station at 10 Kirkwood Drive.
