Impaired Driving - Several Charges Over the Weekend

Charlottetown Police Services had a busy weekend responding to Impaired Driving complaints, several of which have resulted in charges being laid.

While on routine patrol on Saturday morning at 2:30am, Police conducted a traffic stop on Fitzroy Street. The driver of the vehicle showed signs of impairment. A 26 year old female was subsequently charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle.

At 4:00am on Saturday morning, Police responded to a complaint of a vehicle that struck a building wall on Grafton Street. The vehicle was located and a 38 year old Ontario male was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle.

At 9:30 pm on Saturday evening Police responded to an erratic driver complaint . The vehicle was reported travelling with no lights, swerving and had the vehicle sliding doors open. A minivan was located near St. Peters Road and Allen Street. The vehicle driver displayed signs of impairment by drugs. A 44 year old male was charged with refusal under section 254(5) of the criminal code of Canada.

At 9:50pm on Sunday evening, Police responded to a complaint of squealing tires and excessive speed on Summer Street. Police located the suspect vehicle parked with two occupants. The driver displayed signs of impairment by drugs. A 26 year old male was charged with refusal under section 254(5) of the criminal code of Canada.

All persons charged over the weekend will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.
