Surge in Theft From Vehicles

November 26, 2018

File Number: 20181730315

Charlottetown Police Services would like to inform the public of a recent surge in theft from vehicles where the windows are being smashed.

Most of the vehicles involved had their doors locked at the time, resulting in the suspect smashing one of the windows to gain entry and steal valuables that were left inside.

Police encourage the public not leave any valuables such as purses, wallets, electronics or other valuables inside the vehicle in plain view. If any items must be left in the vehicle, it is recommended to place them out of sight in the trunk.

Police are actively investigating these recent thefts. The public is encouraged to report any occurrences, suspicious activity and/or any information/tips to Charlottetown Police Services at 902-629-4172 or PEI Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
