At 6:30 pm on Friday evening, Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of a possible impaired driver on Highfield Avenue. Witnesses at the scene told Police that the driver had stopped on Highfield Ave to collect mail. Upon exiting the vehicle, the driver failed to put the vehicle in park and it rolled away and ended up in the yard of a nearby residence. Police determined that the driver was impaired by alcohol and was arrested. A 74 year old Charlottetown male was subsequently charged with refusing to provide a breath sample. A second charge of uttering threats was also laid following an argument he had with one of the witnesses.
The accused will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.
