Charlottetown Police Services have recovered two stolen vehicles that were reported stolen on Saturday, one male is facing charges.
At 4:50 pm on Saturday (Feb 25), Police responded to a report of a vehicle that had been left running while at a business on Grafton Street. While inside the business, someone got in the vehicle and drove away.
During the course of this investigation, Police were able to determine a possible location of the stolen vehicle and attended an address on Route 19 in Canoe Cove and located the abandoned vehicle.
During this time (at 10:30 pm) a second vehicle was reported stolen to Police. This vehicle had been left running while the owner attended a business on University Avenue. While Police were still on scene in Canoe Cove, this second stolen vehicle arrived at the this location and Officers were able to arrest the driver without incident.
As a result of both these investigations, a 28 year old male (no fixed address) has been charged with two counts of possession of property obtained by crime and one count of theft of motor vehicle. The accused has been released from custody with conditions and will appear in Provincial Court on March 23, 2023.
In both these thefts the vehicles had been left running unattended. The pubic is asked to be mindful of these type thefts and to avoid leaving their vehicles running while unattended.
