Charlottetown Police Services responded to seven (7) possible impaired driving complaints over the weekend, two of which resulted with charges being laid.

File: 2023902311 – At approximately 4:20 pm yesterday afternoon (June 25), Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of a possible impaired driver on St Peters Road.  The vehicle was located in a business parking lot on St-Peters Road and Officers quickly determined that the driver was grossly impaired by alcohol and was arrested.

A 52 year old Charlottetown female was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle after providing breath samples that were four times the legal limit.

File: 2023904997 – At approximately 3:20 am this morning (June 26),  Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of a possible impaired driver on Fitzroy Street.   Officers located the vehicle on Prince Street and pulled it over. They determined that the driver was impaired by alcohol and was arrested.

A 24 year old Charlottetown male was subsequently charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle after providing breath samples that were almost twice the legal limit.

All charged individuals will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

Charlottetown Police Services is reminding the public  to  plan ahead and never get behind the wheel when their ability to drive is impaired by drugs or alcohol.

The Police Service wishes to thank concerned citizens for reporting possible impaired drivers.   The public is encouraged to report instances of suspected impaired driving by calling 911.
