At 2:00 am Monday morning, Charlottetown Police Services responded to a stolen vehicle complaint.

Police learned that the vehicle was in a business parking lot on Euston Street with keys in it while the owner stepped away momentarily.   During that time, someone got in the vehicle and drove away.    The theft was captured on E-Watch video.

A short time later, Officers located the vehicle on Riverside Drive abandoned following a minor collision when it collided with a post in the roundabout.   A male matching the E-watch video footage was located a short distance away on Kensington Road and was arrested without incident.   The male was charged and released from custody a few hours later.

At 8:20am that same morning, Police responded to the same male intoxicated/passed out in a bank vestibule on University Avenue.  While dealing with the male, Officers noted that he was in possession of a stolen bicycle.   During the arrest, Officers located other items that had been stolen from a vehicle on Queen Street sometime overnight.

As a result, a 38 year old Charlottetown male has been charged with:

  • Theft of a motor vehicle
  • Theft of a bicycle
  • Possession of property obtained by crime
  • Breach of Probation (x3)

The male has been remanded in custody and will appear in Provincial Court next week.
