At 1:15pm Friday afternoon (Mar 8), Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of a possible impaired driver on Euston Street. With assistance from the Police E-Watch video surveillance system, the Dispatcher was able to monitor the vehicle and direct Officers to its general location. Officers caught up to the vehicle and pulled the vehicle over in a business parking lot on Allen Street. Officers determined that the driver displayed signs of impairment by alcohol and was arrested.
A 39 year old Charlottetown male was subsequently charged with impaired driving after providing breath samples that were three times the legal limit.
The accused will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.
At 1:35am Saturday morning (Mar 9), Charlottetown Police Services responded to a motor vehicle collision near the intersection of Spring Park Road and Chestnut Street. The collision involved an SUV that collided with two parked vehicles. The driver of the vehicle was not injured, but Officers did determine that she was impaired by alcohol and was arrested.
A 38 year old Cornwall female has been charged with refusing to provide a breath sample upon demand and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.
Charlottetown Police Services is reminding the public to plan ahead and never get behind the wheel when their ability to drive is impaired by drugs or alcohol.
