At approximately 3:30 pm on Saturday (Aug 10), Charlottetown Police Services along with Charlottetown Fire Department and IEMS responded to a single vehicle collision at the Riverside Drive/Garfield Street roundabout.
The driver of an SUV travelling southbound on Riverside Drive suffered a medical emergency and failed to negotiate the round about, leaving the roadway and collided with a utility pole. The vehicle had two passengers. One of the passengers, a 78 year old female, was fatally injured and was deceased on scene. The driver and other passenger were transported to the QEH with undetermined injuries.
The area was blocked to traffic to allow the Charlottetown Police collision re-constructionist conduct it’s investigation. Police and other first responders offer their condolences to the families affected during this difficult time. We also wish to thank an off duty Nurse, other citizens that stopped to assist and an on duty RCMP Officer for providing assistance on scene.
