Be advised of their visible and increased presence at Colonel Gray High School
The Charlottetown Police Services (CPS) is advising residents and surrounding businesses of a training exercise that will be conducted today, Friday, June 27, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. at Colonel Gray High School (175 Spring Park Road). The exercise will bring a visible and increased presence of uniformed officers onto the school property for the day.
The purpose of the training is to create a real-time emergency situation that activates an integrated emergency response across multiple departments. Therefore, other than the location, officers and those participating in the exercise are not provided any advance details about what they are about to encounter. The exercise will include staff from the tactical response unit, crisis negotiators and critical incident command, along with other support areas.
The scenario will be monitored and overseen by Interim Chief McCarron and serves as a key part of CPS’s annual training.
Please note that access to the school property will be restricted to those participating in the training exercise which does not pose any threat to the public.
The exercise reinforces CPS’s commitment to maintaining safe schools and communities, building capacity in critical incident response and crisis de-escalation.

Our annual training exercise at Colonel Gray High School is now complete.
Today’s exercise was the culmination of our three-day training, which activated a real-time, multi-unit emergency response.
Did you know that our Tactical Response Unit (TRU) is a specialized unit with eight designated members – and the only tactical unit stationed in PEI. TRU members are also part of our patrol units and you will see them in the community as part of our regular community safety efforts.
Thank you for your patience and steering clear of the site today!
