Tips from the public have led to the arrest of the suspect involved in this hit and run investigation.

On Dec 19th, Officers followed up on a recent tip which led to the arrest of an 18 year old Charlottetown male.  Police also seized the vehicle involved in this crime.  The male was subsequently charged with Failure to remain at the scene of an accident causing bodily harm (CCC s.320.16(2)).

The accused was released from custody and will appear in Provincial Court in January.

Police wish to thank the public for their assistance in solving this crime.

Charlottetown Police Services are investigating a vehicle/pedestrian collision that occurred at approximately 6:30pm on Wednesday December 4th.

A small dark colored sedan was traveling westbound on Richard Drive and collided with a pedestrian that was walking westbound on the right side of the road and was struck from behind (map of collision location below).   The collision occurred on the east side of the Richard Drive / Doncaster Avenue intersection.   The vehicle would have sustained some noticeable damage to its front end.   Evidence collected on scene suggests that the vehicle may be a Toyota Corolla, possibly a 2007 to 2012 model.  The image below is believed to be the vehicle involved.

The victim of the collision, a 54 year old Charlottetown male, sustained serious injuries and was transported to the QEH.
