On Friday March 13, 2026, Charlottetown Police Services (CPS) Street Crime Unit, with assistance from the Tactical Response Unit, arrested 28-year-old Dario Raitano-Chenell and executed a search warrant at his residence.

While investigating an unrelated drug trafficking file, police learned that Raitano-Chenell had sold a shotgun to a known drug trafficker who was recently arrested and charged by CPS.

The arrest and search warrant at Raitano-Chenell’s residence led to the seizure of three firearms – a semi-automatic carbine rifle, a bolt action rifle, and a semi-automatic rifle – more than 1,100 rounds of various ammunition, as well as replica handguns, a machete and a scope.  Officers also seized seven grams of methamphetamine from the residence, along with a small amount of crack cocaine from Raitano-Chenell’s person at the time of arrest.

Raitano-Chenell was charged with weapons (firearm) trafficking (s. 99 CCC). He was remanded into custody, and will be back in court on Thursday, March 19, 2026.
