On Tuesday, March 17, 2026, Charlottetown Police Services Major Crime Unit, in collaboration with Edmonton Police Service, located and arrested 47-year-old John Joseph MacArthur. With support from the Tactical Response and Street Crime Units, the arrest was made at a residence in South Melville.
MacArthur had a Canada-wide warrant related to an ongoing homicide investigation in Edmonton. He was apprehended without incident and has been transported to Edmonton for remand and future court appearances.
This investigation has demonstrated the importance of inter-jurisdictional intelligence-gathering and cooperation. CPS would like to commend the Edmonton Police Service for their steadfast approach, collaborative efforts and professionalism.
