Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of a possible impaired driver at a business on University Avenue at 5:28pm Monday afternoon. The complainant indicated that the male driver had slurred speech and was driving a blue Toyota Tacoma. The vehicle had left the premise before Police arrival.
At 5:36pm, a second complaint describing a similar vehicle was received and reported that it was involved in a collision on Beach Grove Road.
Police attended the collision on Beach Grove Road and determined that the driver of the Tacoma truck was impaired by alcohol. The 22 year old male Cornwall man was arrested and provided breath samples in excess of twice the legal limit.
The driver was subsequently charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.
No injuries were reported at the collision.
