At 2:30 pm yesterday afternoon, Charlottetown Police Services responded to a suspicious persons complaint on Mariners Drive.  The complainant described seeing two males wearing face coverings such as a balaclava running from a vehicle and returning a short time later with a bag in hand and leaving the area in the same vehicle.

A responding officer attempted the pull the suspect vehicle over but it fled at a high rate of speed heading east on Route 2 outside of the City.  The pursuit was discontinue for the safety of the public.

With the assistance from Queens RCMP, the suspect vehicle was located in the Brackley area about 90 minutes after the initial complaint.  Five suspects were arrested on scene, one of which was wearing an “ankle bracelet” Electronic Monitoring.

The investigation into the suspicious activity resulted in the discovery of a “Home Invasion” break and enter into a residence on Mariners Drive.  A lone female was at the residence at the time of the offence and was not injured.   This was not a random occurrence, the home owner and suspect were known to each other.

Four of the five suspects remain in custody and will appear in court later today for a remand hearing.

A 33 year old Degros Marsh male has been charged with Robbery, flight from Police, dangerous driving, and breach of probation.

A 24 year old Charlottetown male has been charged with Robbery.

A 25 year old Charlottetown male has been charged with Robbery, Breach of Probation (x2) and fail to comply with an Undertaking.

A 34 year old Charlottetown male, whom was wearing an “ankle bracelet” Electronic Monitoring, has been charged with Robbery, Breach of Probation (x2) and fail to comply with a Release Order.
