At 4:00 am Saturday morning, Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of a single vehicle collision that occurred on the UPEI campus near the soccer turf field.  The driver had minor injuries that were treated by IEMS on scene.  Police determined that the driver displayed signs of being impaired by alcohol and was arrested.

A 19 year old  Summerside male was subsequently charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle after he provided breath samples that were almost three (3) times the legal limit.  The accused will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

On Sunday shortly after 1:00 pm, Charlottetown Police Service responded to a complaint of a possible impaired driver.  Police located the vehicle in a parking lot on Kensington Road.  Police determined that the driver was impaired by drugs and was arrested.  An officer trained as a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) confirmed the driver was under the influence of drugs and made the demand that a blood sample be provided.  Impaired driving charges are pending the blood sample toxicology results.
