At 3:00 am this morning (May 28), Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of a female driver that appeared to be passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle in a restaurant parking lot on University Avenue. Officers attended and located the suspect vehicle. While interacting with the driver, Police determined that the driver displayed signs of being impaired by drugs and was arrested. An officer trained as a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) confirmed the driver was under the influence of drugs and made the demand that a blood sample be provided.
A 24 year old Charlottetown woman was released from custody with a 90 day driving prohibition order. Impaired driving charges are pending the blood sample toxicology results.
