At 3:00 pm Friday (May 27), Charlottetown Police Services responded to a shoplifting complaint at the Charlottetown Mall.
Responding Officers learned that a male had been in a store shoplifting, when confronted by staff, the male displayed a knife and threatened the employee before fleeing the scene. The male was later identified by video surveillance. He was arrested on Saturday by Summerside Police in their jurisdiction and later turned over to Charlottetown Police.
As a result of the investigation, a 29 year old Charlottetown male has been charged with Possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes, Uttering threats, Assault with a weapon and breach of Probation. The accused has been remanded in custody until his next court appearance.
The employee did not sustain any injuries during this event.
