Charlottetown Police Services responded to six (6) possible impaired driving complaints over the long weekend, two of which resulted with charges being laid.
File: 2023458804 – At approximately 11:30 pm Friday night (Apr 7), Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of a possible impaired driver on the Arterial Highway. The vehicle was located and pulled over on Malpeque Road. Officers determined that the driver displayed signs of impairment by alcohol and was arrested.
A 47 year old Kinkora male was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle after providing breath samples that were over the legal limit.
File: 2023459228 – At approximately 1:30 am Saturday morning (Apr 8), Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of a possible impaired driver on Grafton Street. Officers located the vehicle a short time later and pulled it over. It was determined that the driver was impaired by alcohol and was arrested.
A 23 year old Moncton male was subsequently charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle after providing breath samples that were over twice the legal limit.
All charged individuals will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.
Charlottetown Police Services is reminding the public to plan ahead and never get behind the wheel when their ability to drive is impaired by drugs or alcohol.
The Police Service wishes to thank concerned citizens for reporting possible impaired drivers. The public is encouraged to report instances of suspected impaired driving by calling 911.
