On Tuesday May 23, 2023 at approximately 12:00pm, the Charlottetown Police Services Street Crime Unit arrested a male and female following an investigation into the illicit drug trade of selling crystal methamphetamine and fentanyl in Charlottetown.
Officers seized 59 grams of purple fentanyl, 261 grams of crystal methamphetamine along with other drug paraphernalia, a knife and cell phones. Street value of the drugs seized is approximately fifty five thousand dollars.
A 31 year old Kinkora male has been charged with two counts of CDSA 5(2) – Possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking (crystal meth & fentanyl) and one charge of failing to comply with a release order. The accused was bound by a release order stemming from six firearm related charges laid by Charlottetown Police Street Crime Unit in December 2022.
A 25 year old Charlottetown female has been charged with a single count of CDSA 5(2) – Possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking (crystal meth).
The female accused has been released from custody with conditions and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date. The male accused has been remanded in custody and will appear in Province Court on Thursday May 25, 2023.
