Charlottetown Police Services (CPS) did not lay charges at the scene of a road traffic accident on July 14, 2023, however, charges are pending under the Highway Traffic Act and CPS has requested a review of the driver’s license. The pedestrian is considered in critical condition and was airlifted to the QE11 in Halifax, NS. The incident remains under investigation.
In 2022, 17 vehicle versus pedestrian collisions were reported resulting in five charges being laid under the Highway Traffic Act. To date in 2023, twelve vehicle versus pedestrian collisions have been reported and charges have been laid in six of these incidents.

Charlottetown Police Services, Charlottetown Fire and Island EMS responded to a collision that occurred on St Peters Road at 12:22 pm today.
A male in a wheel chair that was crossing at a marked cross walk was struck by a pick up truck that was driving north on St Peters Road.
The male was transported to the QEH with serious injuries by IEMS. The driver of the pick up truck was uninjured but shaken up by the event.
Charlottetown Police Collision Reconstructionist and other support Officers remain on scene continuing it’s investigation. During this time the St Peters Road will remain closed from the round about to the Arterial Highway.
Motorists and pedestrians are reminded to be vigilant at crosswalks.
