File: 20231812407 – At approximately 2:30 am Sunday morning, while on routine patrol, an Officer came upon a vehicle that was stationary and partially obstructing traffic flow on Water Street. The Officer pulled in behind the vehicle and noticed the driver was sleeping behind the wheel. The driver was woken up and it was determined that he was impaired by alcohol and subsequently arrested and brought to the Police Station for breath samples.
A 35 year old Charlottetown male was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle after providing breath samples that were over the legal limit.
The accused will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.
Charlottetown Police Services is reminding the public to plan ahead and never get behind the wheel when their ability to drive is impaired by drugs or alcohol.
The Police Service wishes to thank concerned citizens for reporting possible impaired drivers. The public is encouraged to report instances of suspected impaired driving by calling 911.
