Charlottetown Police Services responded to twelve (12) possible impaired driving complaints since Thursday (Dec 14), four (4) of which resulted in charges being laid.

File: 20231833126 – At approximately 2:00 pm Thursday afternoon, Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of a possible impaired driver at a convenience business on St Peters Road.  Police were able to locate the vehicle and driver a short time later.  Officers determined that the driver displayed signs of impairment by alcohol and was arrested.

A 67 year old Charlottetown male was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle after providing breath samples that were over twice the legal limit.

File: 20231834563 – At approximately 6:20 pm Thursday evening,  Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint reporting a possible impaired driver in the Capital Drive area.   Police located and pulled the vehicle over near the North River Causeway.  Officers determined that the driver was indeed impaired by alcohol and was arrested.

A 35 year old Cornwall male was subsequently charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle after providing breath samples that were twice the legal limit.

File: 20231835865 – At approximately 11:45 pm Thursday night,  while on Routine Patrol, Officers observed a vehicle driving erratically on St Peters Road and performed a traffic stop.   Officers determined that the driver was indeed impaired by alcohol and was arrested.

A 25 year old Charlottetown male was subsequently charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle after providing breath samples that were above the legal limit.

File: 20231845514 – At approximately 9:25 pm Saturday night,  Police responded to an impaired driver complaint in East Royalty.   The vehicle was located and the responding Officer determined that the driver was impaired by alcohol and was arrested.

A 43 year old Charlottetown male was subsequently charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle after providing breath samples that were over twice the legal limit.

All charged individuals will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

Charlottetown Police Services is reminding the public  to  plan ahead and never get behind the wheel when their ability to drive is impaired by drugs or alcohol.

The Police Service wishes to thank concerned citizens for reporting possible impaired drivers.   The public is encouraged to report instances of suspected impaired driving by calling 911.
