File: 202428574 – Shortly past midnight on Saturday morning (Jan 6), while on routine patrol, an Officer came upon a vehicle that was previously reported as a possible impaired driver and pulled it over on the Malpeque Road, north of the Arterial Highway. The driver displayed signs of being impaired by alcohol and was subsequently arrested and brought to the Police Station for breath samples.
A 20 year old Charlottetown male was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle after providing breath samples that were almost twice the legal limit.
The accused will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.
Charlottetown Police Services is reminding the public to plan ahead and never get behind the wheel when their ability to drive is impaired by drugs or alcohol.
The Police Service wishes to thank concerned citizens for reporting possible impaired drivers. The public is encouraged to report instances of suspected impaired driving by calling 911.
