At approximately 10:45 am on Saturday morning (Feb 17), Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of a male threatening a male and female with a knife.
Police attended the area of Stan MacPherson Way and spoke with the complainants. It was learned that he and his girlfriend were walking their dogs when they were approached by a male, unknown to them, who was yelling threats towards them and pulled a knife out in a threatening manner. The couple backed away and called Police, at which time the male left the area. The incident was captured on the Charlottetown Police E-Watch video surveillance system.
Police were able to identify the suspect and did locate him a short time later at the intersection of Richmond and Queen Street. The suspect was arrested without incident and a knife was seized.
A 35 year old Charlottetown male has been charged with assault with a weapon, uttering threats and possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes. The accused appeared in Provincial Court Tuesday and has been remanded in custody.
