At 10:50 pm last night (Apr 4), Charlottetown Police Services responded to a possible impaired driver on University Avenue. Police located the vehicle and pulled it over on Pond Street. While interacting with the driver, the Officer determined that the driver displayed signs of being impaired by alcohol and was arrested.
A 24 year old Hazelbrook male was subsequently charged with impaired driving after providing breath samples that were above twice the legal limit. The accused has been previously convicted for impaired driving in 2019 and 2020. The driver is also facing charges under the Highway Traffic Act and the vehicle has been impounded for 30 days.
The accused will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.
Charlottetown Police Services is reminding the public to plan ahead and never get behind the wheel when their ability to drive is impaired by drugs or alcohol.
