Charlottetown Police Services Major Crime Unit have charged a male with several offences following a three week investigation.
On Oct 1st 2024, Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint from a female reporting that her window screen had been cut and tampered with overnight and believed someone may have been looking in her ground floor window. At the initial phase of the investigation, the Charlottetown Police Services Forensic Identification Section and Major Crime Unit were called in to assist.
At 11:30pm on Oct 2nd, Police responded to a complaint at the same residence where the female victim from the previous complaint had seen a male looking in her window again and followed him to a vehicle that was parked a short distance away. Several Police units responded and located the vehicle leaving the area and pulled it over. The driver, 26 year old John Wesley Johnson was arrested and subsequently charged with trespass at night and was brought back to Police Headquarters for processing. He was later released from custody.
On October 18th, the Charlottetown Police Services Major Crime Unit arrested John Wesley Johnson for voyeurism and simultaneously executed a search warrant at his residence. In relation to the Oct 1st incident, John Wesley Johnson was charged with trespass at night, voyeurism, indecent act and mischief under $5000 dollars.
The accused appeared in court and has been released on conditions that include a daily curfew, refrain from attending the victims residence and be subject to electronic monitoring.
