Charlottetown Police Services received a complaint at 8:40 pm last night reporting two mustangs (black & yellow) were driving erratically on Northridge Parkway. Police were unable to locate the vehicles at that time.
At 2:00 am this morning, Police spotted the two vehicles on Northridge Parkway and attempted to pull them over but both fled at a high rate of speed and Police discontinued for public safety reasons.
At 3:35 am, Officers observed both vehicles driving south on Mount Edward Road and attempted to pull the vehicles over near the roundabout on Allen Street/Mount Edward Road. Both vehicles did not stop and fled east on Beasley Street. Police again discontinued for public safety reasons. The Police E-Watch cameras captured both vehicles turning left onto Kensington Road driving at a high rate of speed. E-Watch video shows that both vehicles drove north on Kensington Road, the first vehicle had to brake hard to avoid colliding with another vehicle traveling in the same direction, the second mustang was not able to brake fast enough and collided with the leading mustang. Both vehicles were heavily damaged and inoperable. As Police arrived on scene, two persons attempted to run from Police but were located a short distance away. The vehicles had other passengers with only one suffering minor injuries.
As a result of the investigation, a 19 year old Tenmile House male has been charged with flight from Police x2 and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle x2 and a second driver, an 18 year old Springvale male has been charged with flight from Police x2 and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle x2. Both male have been release from custody with conditions and will appear in Provincial Court.
Based on data from the LPR (License Plate Recognition) system, Police believe the vehicles were also in the Kensington and Summerside area near midnight.
