At approximately 8:15 pm last night (Nov 20), Charlottetown Police responded to a possible impaired driver complaint on Mount Edward Road.
Officers located the vehicle on Longworth Avenue and pulled it over. Officers determined that driver was impaired by alcohol. He was arrested and brought back to the Police Station to provide breath samples.
A 44 year old Charlottetown male was subsequently charged with impaired driving after providing breath samples that were over twice the legal limit. The accused was released from custody will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.
Charlottetown Police Services is reminding the public to plan ahead and never get behind the wheel when their ability to drive is impaired by drugs or alcohol.
The Police Service wishes to thank concerned citizens for reporting possible impaired drivers. The public is encouraged to report instances of suspected impaired driving by calling 911.
