At 3:00am this morning (Nov 26), Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of a male going through vehicles along Parkview Drive. Several Police units responded and one of them located a male inside a vehicle on MacKay Drive. A foot chase ensued and the Officer was able to catch up to the male suspect on Palmers Lane where he was arrested without further incident. During the search of the suspect, Police located a collapsible baton and other items that had been stolen from vehicles.
A 33 year old Charlottetown male has been charged with theft under $5000, trespass at night, possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes and breach of probation.
The accused has been released from custody with conditions and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.
Police would like to remind the public to take some effective and simple preventative measures such as:
- Do not leave valuables such as purses, wallets and electronic devices in vehicles
- Always keep your doors locked
Residents are also encouraged to immediately report suspicious activity to Police. Police credit this arrest to the concerned citizen that reported this suspicious activity.
