At 1:50 am Sunday morning, while on routine patrol, an Officer observed a vehicle go through a red light at the intersection of Kent Street and Great George Street.  The vehicle was pulled over and the driver displayed signs of being impaired by alcohol and was arrested.  A 24 year old Mount Stewart male was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle after proving breath samples that were twice the legal limit.

At 2:45 am Sunday morning, while investigating an unrelated complaint, Officers located the subject of complaint pumping gas at a gas station on Euston Street.  The driver displayed signs of being impaired by alcohol and was arrested.  A 39 year old Charlottetown male was subsequently charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle after proving breath samples that were above the legal limit.

At 2:00 am this morning, while on routine patrol, Officers came across a single vehicle collision on University Avenue.  The vehicle had struck a light standard on the median of the road.  The driver was not injured but showed signs of being impaired by alcohol and was arrested.  A 40 year old Charlottetown male has been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle after proving breath samples that were almost twice the legal limit.

All individuals charged individual have been released from custody and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

Charlottetown Police Services is reminding the public  to  plan ahead and never get behind the wheel when their ability to drive is impaired by drugs or alcohol.

The Police Service wishes to thank concerned citizens for reporting possible impaired drivers.   The public is encouraged to report instances of suspected impaired driving by calling 911.
