Charlottetown Police Services MCU (Major Crime Unit) have laid a charge in connection with a recent counterfeit file.
Last week Police warned the public of several complaints received where counterfeit $50 and $100 bills were passed at local Charlottetown businesses.
A 24 year old Green Meadows female has been charged with Uttering Counterfeit Money under section 452 of the Criminal Code of Canada. She will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.
The investigation into several other files is ongoing and may result in other charges.
Merchants and the general public are asked to be extra vigilant when accepting $50.00 and $100.00 bills during cash transactions.
Any person who suspects they are being presented with a counterfeit bill or who has already accepted a counterfeit bill is asked to contact the Charlottetown Police Services at 902-629-4172.
