At 3:45 pm yesterday (Oct 12), Charlottetown Police Services responded to a disturbance complaint inside the Confederation Court Mall. Police learned that a female store employee confronted a shoplifter at which point an altercation ensued and the suspect fled the area. The female was shaken up, but otherwise not injured. The Charlottetown Police Services Street Crime Unit was called in to assist with the investigation.
Video surveillance was reviewed and the suspect was identified by Police. He was located a short time later at a residence on Rochford Street and arrested at 4:25 pm.
As a result of the investigation, a 26 year old Charlottetown male has been charged with Robbery and breach of Probation. He was remanded in custody and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.
