File: 20231281412 – At approximately 3:40 am this morning (Aug 30), Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of a possible impaired driver on the Arterial Highway, the vehicle was stationary and the driver was reported to be sleeping at the wheel. Officers located the vehicle stationary on the side of the road and determined that the driver was impaired by alcohol and was arrested.
A 28 year old Charlottetown male was subsequently charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle after providing breath samples that were over the legal limit.
The accused will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.
Charlottetown Police Services is reminding the public to plan ahead and never get behind the wheel when their ability to drive is impaired by drugs or alcohol.
The Police Service wishes to thank concerned citizens for reporting possible impaired drivers. The public is encouraged to report instances of suspected impaired driving by calling 911.
