File 2024949627: At 9:45 pm Friday night (July 6), while on routine patrol, an Officer observed a vehicle driving erratically and pulled it over on Sydney Street. The driver displayed signs of being impaired by alcohol and was arrested.

A 54 year old Stratford male has been charged with impaired driving after providing breath samples that were over twice the legal limit.

File 2024960625: At 7:38 pm Monday evening (July 8), Police were dispatched to a two vehicle collision that occurred on the Arterial Highway/Brackley Point Road intersection.  The involved vehicle was stopped in the westbound lane at a red light, another vehicle approaching from behind, did not stop and rear ended it pushing it into the center of the intersection.   The driver of the vehicle that was struck sustained minor injuries that did not require treatment at the time of the collision, however the passenger was injured and taken to the QEH by IEMS with serious injuries.  The driver that caused the collision was not injured.

The driver of the vehicle that caused the collision displayed signs of being impaired by drugs and was arrested. He provided blood samples and Police must wait for toxicology results to determined if impaired driving charges will be laid.  A ticket under the Highway Traffic Act was issued for driving without due care and attention.   This file remains under investigation.

File 2024961536: At 11:05 pm Monday night (July 8), Officers responded to a complaint of a male that has been in the vehicle for an extended period of time and suspects that he may be impaired. Police attended and located the vehicle stationary in a parking spot on Great George Street, the vehicle was running and the driver was sleeping at the wheel.  Officer woke the driver and observed him to be displaying signs of impairment by alcohol and was arrested. The driver was brought back to the Police Station and provided breath samples that were above the legal limit.

A 21 year old Stratford PE male has been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle.

All accused will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

Charlottetown Police Services is reminding the public  to  plan ahead and never get behind the wheel when their ability to drive is impaired by drugs or alcohol.

The Police Service wishes to thank concerned citizens for reporting possible impaired drivers.   The public is encouraged to report instances of suspected impaired driving by calling 911.
