At 1:00 am Tuesday morning (July 9), Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of a male following his ex-girlfriend as she was driving on Longworth Avenue. Officers located both vehicles east bound on Allen Street and attempted to pull the trailing vehicle over. That vehicle passed the complainants vehicle at a high rate of speed continuing east bound and eventually lost control and ran into a power poll on Beasley Avenue. The male then attempted to run from Police but was arrested following a short foot chase. Upon a subsequent search, Officers located and seized a quantity of suspected cocaine.
A 26 year old Charlottetown male has been charged with:
- Flight from Police
- Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
- Operating a motor vehicle while prohibited
- Assault with a weapon
- Mischief over $5000 dollars
- CDSA 5(2) possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking
The accused has been remanded in custody and will appear in Provincial Court July 11 at 9:00am.
