At approximately 2:45 am this morning (July 24), Charlottetown Police responded to a possible impaired driver complaint on MacWilliams Road.  The complainant informed Police that a female was banging on their door and woke them up.  The female was described as appearing to be intoxicated and had a vehicle in the driveway still running.

Officers located the female at the same location and after a short time, determined that she had driven the vehicle to this address and that she was impaired by alcohol.  She was subsequently arrested and brought to the Police Station to provide breath samples.

A 27 year old Charlottetown female was subsequently charged with impaired driving after providing breath samples that were over 2 times the legal limit.

The accused was released from custody will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

Charlottetown Police Services is reminding the public  to  plan ahead and never get behind the wheel when their ability to drive is impaired by drugs or alcohol.

The Police Service wishes to thank concerned citizens for reporting possible impaired drivers.   The public is encouraged to report instances of suspected impaired driving by calling 911.
