At approximately 4:00 am this morning (July 25), Charlottetown Police responded to a possible impaired driver complaint on Weymouth Street.  The complainant informed Police that a male was in a stationary vehicle and appeared to impaired and kept nodding off.

Officers located the vehicle and determined that driver was impaired by alcohol.  He was arrested and brought back to the Police Station to provide breath samples.

A 40 year old  Fort McMurray Alberta male was subsequently charged with impaired driving after providing breath samples that were above the legal limit.

The accused was released from custody will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

Charlottetown Police Services is reminding the public  to  plan ahead and never get behind the wheel when their ability to drive is impaired by drugs or alcohol.

The Police Service wishes to thank concerned citizens for reporting possible impaired drivers.   The public is encouraged to report instances of suspected impaired driving by calling 911.
