Charlottetown Police Services Major Crime Unit arrested and charged a 26-year-old male with four child-related sexual offences.
On the evening of August 20, CPS received a report about sexual offences committed against a child by someone known to the family. The Major Crime Unit immediately commenced its investigation while the family’s safety was ensured.
The following day, the 26-year-old was charged with the following offences:
- sexual assault (s. 271 CCC)
- sexual interference (s. 151 CCC)
- extortion (s. 346 CCC)
- uttering threats (s. 264 CCC)
The 26-year-old remains in custody. He is scheduled to appear in court again on September 11, 2025.
Due to the sensitivity of these charges, a court-ordered publication ban has been placed on this file. CPS is working closely with Child and Family Services and Victim Services to ensure the continued safety and well-being of the victim and their family is maintained throughout the investigation.
Offences involving minors are particularly sensitive and we urge the community to respect the privacy of the victim and their family during this difficult time.
