Charlottetown Police Services are alerting the public of a new email scam that has been reported numerous times in the last few days.
The potential victim receives an email from “Privacy-Vault” which lists their personal information such as SIN, address and date of birth. The email then instructs them to follow a website link. Once on the website it further instructs the victim that the issue can be resolved but will require payment of $50.00 dollars to a bitcoin address.
See below for a sample of the email received and excerpt of the website the email instructs you to follow.
If you’ve received this email, ignore it/delete it.
You may wish to report it to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501, or visit their website at www.antifraudcentre-centreantifraude.ca.
