At 11:00pm last night (Feb 29), Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of a possible impaired driver on North River Road. Police located the vehicle on Prince Charles Drives and conducted a traffic stop. The driver displayed signs of being impaired by alcohol and was subsequently arrested and brought to the Police Station for breath samples.
A 72 year old Charlottetown male was charge with driving while impaired after providing breath samples that were over the legal limit.
The accused will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.
Charlottetown Police Services is reminding the public to plan ahead and never get behind the wheel when their ability to drive is impaired by drugs or alcohol.
The Police Service wishes to thank concerned citizens for reporting possible impaired drivers. The public is encouraged to report instances of suspected impaired driving by calling 911.
