At 11:20pm last night (Mar 13), Charlottetown Police Services responded to a motor vehicle collision on Kent Street. The complainant told Police that the vehicle that caused the collision did not remain on scene but he did obtain the vehicle license plate number and was able to identify the driver. No injuries were reported to Police.
Other responding Officers were able to locate the vehicle on Cumberland Street and arrested the male driver. That driver displayed signs of being impaired by alcohol and was arrested.
A 30 year old Charlottetown male was subsequently charged with impaired driving after providing breath samples that were above the legal limit.
The accused will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.
Charlottetown Police Services is reminding the public to plan ahead and never get behind the wheel when their ability to drive is impaired by drugs or alcohol.
The Police Service wishes to thank concerned citizens for reporting possible impaired drivers. The public is encouraged to report instances of suspected impaired driving by calling 911.
