Charlottetown Police Services responded to a report of a vehicle that was stolen from a business parking lot on Belvedere Avenue Sunday (March 24) afternoon.
With assistance from the Charlottetown Police Street Crime Unit, the vehicle was located and three males were arrested without incident on Monday March 25 at 1:15pm. Two males were released without charges, however the third male and driver, a 24 year old Charlottetown male has been charged with multiple offences.
In relation to the vehicle theft, the male has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime and breach of probation.
At approximately 3:45 pm Sunday afternoon, the vehicle pumped gas at a gas station in Stratford and drove off without paying. The accused is being charged with theft under $5000 dollars and breach of probation.
At approximately 9:10 pm Sunday night, Summerside Police Services having been alerted to the stolen vehicle out of Charlottetown spotted it on Granville Street. Officers attempted to pull it over but it fled and was not pursued due to public safety concerns. The accused is being charged with flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and breach of probation in this instance.
About an hour and a half later in Charlottetown, Police located the vehicle on Kent Street and attempted to pull it over. Again, the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed and police discontinued for public safety reasons. In this case, the accused is being charged with flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and breach of probation.
The accused appeared in court Monday afternoon and has been remanded in custody. His next Charlottetown court appearance is on April 5.
