While on routine patrol Saturday afternoon, Police received an alert from the LPR (License Plate Recognition) system of a license plate that had been reported stolen earlier in the day.
Police located the vehicle bearing the stolen license plate on Allen Street and attempted to pull it over but it fled and Police did not pursue due to public safety concerns. The vehicle was located a short time later by another Police Officer that was able to pull it over on Peake Street.
The lone occupant and driver of the vehicle was arrested and taken into custody. A 32 year old Charlottetown male has been charged with:
- Possession of property obtained by crime
- Flight from Police
- Driving while Prohibited
The accused was released from custody and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.
