At 7:40 pm last night (Dec 2), Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint from a grocery store on University Avenue that reported two males had left the store without paying for two full cart loads of groceries. Officers were provided a description of the suspects and vehicle.
A short time later, Police located the vehicle on Grafton Street with both suspects and a large quantity of groceries still inside the vehicle. Both men were arrested. Subsequently, a 49 year old Charlottetown man and been charged with theft under $5000 dollars and the second male, a 35 year old Charlottetown man has been charged with theft under $5000 dollars and possession of a prohibited weapon (brass knuckles).
Both men have been released from custody with conditions and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.
