Charlottetown Police Services conducted several Road Safety Check Points over the month of December and the Holiday Season.
The increased driving enforcement efforts resulted in numerous charges being laid:
- 60 Highway Traffic Act charges
- 4 Highway Traffic Act warnings
- 2 vehicles were towed for outstanding Highway Traffic Act offences
- 1 charge under the Cannabis Act (possession while having care and control of a motor vehicle)
- 1 person charged with Impaired operation of a motor vehicle (by drugs) – December 29 at 4:15pm. A 24 year old man charged with impaired operation (by drugs) of a motor vehicle.
- 6 other impaired driving charges were laid during the month of December:
- December 6 at 4:50pm. A 76 year old man charged with impaired operation (by alcohol) of a motor vehicle.
- December 6 at 6:40pm. A 28 year old man charged with impaired operation (by alcohol) of a motor vehicle.
- December 9 at 10:40am. A 26 year old woman charged with impaired operation (by drugs) of a motor vehicle.
- December 15 at 11:26am. A 31 year old man charged with impaired operation (by alcohol) of a motor vehicle.
- December 19 at 11:35pm. A 26 year old man charged with impaired operation (by drugs) of a motor vehicle.
- December 24 at 10:10pm. A 25 year old man charged with impaired operation (by alcohol) of a motor vehicle.
