Charlottetown Police Services have charged five individuals with impaired driving over the weekend in separate incidents.

File: 20221770607 – At approximately 11:30 pm Friday night (Dec 9), Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of a possible impaired driver on St Peters Road.  The vehicle was located and pulled over on the Arterial Highway.  Officers determined that the driver displayed signs of impairment by alcohol and was arrested.

A 29 year old Cornwall male was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle after providing breath samples that were over twice the legal limit.

File: 20221772902 – At approximately 2:00 pm Saturday afternoon (Dec 10),  Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of a possible impaired driver.   Officers located the vehicle on the Atlantic Road and pulled it over.  It was determined that the driver was impaired by alcohol and was arrested.

A 54 year old Charlottetown male was subsequently charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle.

File: 20221774358 – At 7:40 pm Saturday evening (Dec 10), Police responded to a minor two vehicle collision on Belvedere Ave.  There were no injuries reported.  While interacting with one of the drivers,  Police observed that the driver displayed signs of being impaired by alcohol and was arrested.

A 36 year old Charlottetown male was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle after providing breath samples that were over twice the legal limit.

File: 20221776137 – At 3:44 am Sunday morning (Dec 11), while on routine patrol, Police came across a parked vehicle on Weymouth Street with the engine running and a male sleeping in the drivers seat.  The Officer woke the driver up and quickly determined that he was impaired by alcohol and was arrested.

A 28 year old Stratford male was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle after providing breath samples that were almost twice the legal limit.

File: 20221779602 – At 2:18 am this morning (Dec 12), while on routine patrol, Police observed an erratic driver on St Peters Road and pulled it over.  The driver displayed signs of being impaired by alcohol and was arrested.

A 24 year old Charlottetown male was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle after providing breath samples that were over twice the legal limit.

All charged individuals will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

Charlottetown Police Services is reminding the public once again to please plan ahead and never get behind the wheel when their ability to drive is impaired by drugs or alcohol.

The public is asked to report instances of suspected impaired driving by calling 911.
