File: 202455683 – At 4:30pm Saturday afternoon (Jan 13), Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of a male drinking from a liquor bottle while parked in a business parking lot on University Avenue. Police located the vehicle stationary, idling in the parking lot. The driver displayed signs of being impaired by alcohol and was subsequently arrested and brought to the Police Station for breath samples.
A 77 year old New Glasgow PEI male has been charged with refusing to provide a breath sample upon demand and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.
File: 202457136 – At 11:45pm Saturday night (Jan 13), Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of a possible impaired driver parked in a business parking lot on St Peters Road. Police located the vehicle stationary in the parking lot. The driver displayed signs of being impaired by alcohol and was subsequently arrested and brought to the Police Station for breath samples.
A 28 year old Charlottetown male has been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle after providing breath samples that were almost twice the legal limit. The accused will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.
Charlottetown Police Services is reminding the public to plan ahead and never get behind the wheel when their ability to drive is impaired by drugs or alcohol.
The Police Service wishes to thank concerned citizens for reporting possible impaired drivers. The public is encouraged to report instances of suspected impaired driving by calling 911.
