Charlottetown Police Services have charged two individuals with impaired driving over the weekend in separate incidents and a third is pending toxicology results.

File: 2022783927 – At approximately 5:55 pm Saturday (June 11), Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of a two vehicle collision at the corner of Francis Lane and Kensington Road.  While interacting with one of the drivers, the Officer determined that the driver displayed signs of impairment by alcohol and was arrested.

A 21 year old Charlottetown male provided breath sample twice the legal limit and was subsequently charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle.

The other driver was treated by IEMS for minor injuries.

File: 2022786315 – At 2:25 am Sunday morning (June 12),  Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of a possible impaired driver in the Hillsborough Park area.   Officers located the vehicle on St Peters Road and pulled it over.  It was determined that the driver was impaired by alcohol and was arrested.

A 54 year old Charlottetown female was subsequently charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle.

File: 2022787043 – At 7:00 am Sunday morning (June 12), Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint from a business on Euston Street reporting that there was a driver sleeping behind the wheel of a vehicle.  Officers attended and determined that the driver displayed signs of being impaired by drugs and was arrested.

An officer trained as a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) confirmed the driver was under the influence of drugs and made the demand that a blood sample be provided.

Impaired driving charges are pending the blood sample toxicology results.

A 20 year old Summerside man was released from custody with a 90 day driving prohibition order and the vehicle has been impounded for 30 days.

All charged individuals will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.
