Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of an assault that occurred in a business parking lot on University Avenue yesterday morning at 11:20 am. The suspect approached the victim and struck him several times with a metal pipe, then left the area in his vehicle. The victim suffered minor injuries. This assault was not a random act, both males knew each other, and there is no risk to the public.
The investigation has led to the arrest of a 49 year old Charlottetown man. The accused has been charged with assault with a weapon and uttering threats. He was released on conditions to have no contact with the victim and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.
